Ingredients

  • 6 slices  Dense white sandwich bread (crust removed)
  • 1 stick  Unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup  Sugar (granulated )
  • 2 teaspoons  Ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Cover a baking sheet with aluminium foil or parchment paper.
  • Remove the crusts from the bread slices by trimming them off.
  • Place the butter on a pie plate and carefully place it in the oven until the butter melts completely. Be sure to monitor it closely to prevent burning.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together using a whisk. Then, transfer the cinnamon sugar mixture onto a dinner plate or another pie plate.
  • Once the butter has melted, carefully take it out of the oven. Dip both sides of the bread slices into the melted butter, making sure to generously coat every spot. You want the bread to feel slightly heavier in your hand after buttering it.
  • Take the buttered bread slices and dip them into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, ensuring that both sides are thoroughly coated.
  • Place the coated bread slices onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
  • Bake the toast in the oven for approximately 25 minutes or until they turn a light golden brown colour.
  • Carefully transfer the baked toast onto a cooling rack. As they cool, the toasts will become crispy. Once completely cooled, store the toasts in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh.
