Ingredients

For The Chicken

  • 2 pounds Chicken Breasts (Boneless, Skinless and cut into 1 ½-inch pieces)
  • 1 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Eggs (beaten)
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  • Vegetable Oil (for frying)

For The Orange Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Orange Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • ¼ cup Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest (grated)
  • 3 tablespoons Cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
  • ½ teaspoon Ginger (minced)
  • 1 ½ cups Water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  • Add beaten eggs to two medium bowls. Mix flour, salt, and pepper in another bowl. Dip the chicken pieces in the eggs and then dust them with flour.
  • Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 360°F and place the pieces in the deep fryer. Fry until golden brown. Remove the pieces and drain any excess oil.
  • Pour the water, soy sauce, orange, and lemon juice into a large saucepan. Then, add orange zest, garlic powder, ginger, and brown sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves, then bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  • Then, slowly add the mixture of cornstarch and water to the sauce and stir until the sauce thickens. Once the sauce is thick, remove it from the heat.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken in a serving bowl. Coat the chicken evenly with the sauce.
  • Serve it with hot rice and steamed vegetables and sprinkle it with some red pepper flakes. Enjoy!
