Today I'm going to share with you a mary berry soda bread recipe that is extremely delicious. Mary berry soda bread is soft, moist, and slightly sweet. It is usually eaten with cheese or as a snack.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a large baking sheet lightly.
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and margarine in a large bowl. Whisk in the buttermilk and egg.
Knead dough on a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a round and place on a baking sheet.
Mix melted butter with 1/4 cup buttermilk and brush the buttermilk mixture over the loaf. Cut an 'X' into the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
In the preheated oven, bake for about 45 to 50 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean. Check the doneness after 30 minutes. While it bakes, you may brush the loaf with the butter mixture. Enjoy!
