Ingredients
  

  • 1 can (28 ounce) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (29 ounce) tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large minced garlic clove
  • 1/2 onion (very finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon basil (dried)
  • 1 teaspoon parsley (dried)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano (dried)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a medium-low saucepan, heat the oil and add the garlic. Cook until golden brown, stirring frequently. Ensure that the garlic is not burned.
  • Add the onion and stir frequently until it becomes soft and golden. Add tomato products and seasonings. 
  • At medium-high heat, slowly bring to a boil. Cover and let boil for 10 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover loosely, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve hot over pasta. Enjoy!
