Add sugar, water, and yeast to a bowl and mix together. Wait about 10 minutes for the yeast to begin to activate.
Slowly add oil, salt, and flour to a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. Mix well and continue kneading for 2-3 minutes.
Put oil in a glass bowl. Turn the dough in the glass bowl to coat it with oil after removing it from the mixer bowl. Put plastic wrap tightly over the dough and let it rise for about one hour.
Spray an 8-inch x 8-inch glass dish with cooking spray. Divide the risen dough into nine balls of similar size.
Place the balls in the prepared dish, leaving some space around each for rising. Allow to rise for about 30 minutes under a tight cover.
Bake rolls at 350°F for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top. Butter each roll immediately after removing it from the oven. Enjoy!
