Today, I am going to share with you how to make easy homemade elderberry syrup. It's a wonderful tonic to fight colds and flu. In this recipe, I use dried elderberries obviously and I also use hibiscus flowers and rose hips. Both of these are rich in vitamin C
Pour the filtered water into a medium saucepan and add the dried elderberries, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and freshly grated ginger.
Place the saucepan on the stove and turn high heat and bring to boil. afterwords, cover it on a very low simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Turn off the heat and let's cool for a few minutes until it is cool.
Strain berries through a cheesecloth or strainer. press and push using a spoon and applying a lot of pressure to extract any extra juice that the elderberries are holding.
When the syrup is cool, add raw honey and mix well.
Pour the syrup into a mason jar and store it in your fridge for no longer than up to two months.
