Elderberry Syrup

Today, I am going to share with you how to make easy homemade elderberry syrup. It's a wonderful tonic to fight colds and flu. In this recipe, I use dried elderberries obviously and I also use hibiscus flowers and rose hips. Both of these are rich in vitamin C

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup dried elderberries
  • 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 cup filtered water
  • 1 cup raw honey

Instructions
 

  • Pour the filtered water into a medium saucepan and add the dried elderberries, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and freshly grated ginger.
  • Place the saucepan on the stove and turn high heat and bring to boil. afterwords, cover it on a very low simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Turn off the heat and let's cool for a few minutes until it is cool.
  • Strain berries through a cheesecloth or strainer. press and push using a spoon and applying a lot of pressure to extract any extra juice that the elderberries are holding.
  • When the syrup is cool, add raw honey and mix well.
  • Pour the syrup into a mason jar and store it in your fridge for no longer than up to two months.
