Ingredients

  • 4 Calamari steaks steaks (about 1 lb)
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Butter (unsalted)
  • 2 oz Parmesan cheese (¼ cup), finely grated
  • 3 tbsp All purpose flour
  • 1.5 tbsp Freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 large  Egg
  • Lemon wedges
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Rinsed and drained capers
  • 1 tbsp Water

Instructions

  • Take a large skillet and pour 2 tbsp olive oil in it. Heat the oil on a medium-high flame until it is hot. But do not let it smoke otherwise it will affect the taste of the steak.
  • Take a large bowl and add pepper, cheese, and flour to it. Mix them well together. In another bowl, whisk together the egg with water.
  • Take the calamari steak and coat it with the flour and cheese until the mixture covers the surface of the steak well. After removing the excess mixture, dip the coated steak into the whisked egg. Do the same to coat with egg and let go of the excess egg dripping off. Put the steak aside on a plate. Repeat this procedure for the remaining pieces of steak.
  • Place 2 coated steaks in the hot oil in the skillet. Keep the flame on a medium-high. Saute the steaks. To avoid burning, keep them turning occasionally. Repeat until they are golden. Then transfer them to the dish. Do the same for the remaining pieces of steak.
  • Get rid of any fat in the skillet and add capers, butter, and lemon juice in it. Cook on a medium flame until the butter melts.
  • Pour this delicious sauce on the steaks and serve. Bon appetit!
