Lorna Doone Cookies

Lorna Doone Cookies Recipe

Lorna Doone cookies are a delicious treat that can be made in many different ways. This recipe is one of the most popular and includes sugar, butter and vanilla extract. They are soft and chewy with a buttery taste. The recipe is really easy to make, too. I think they would be great for a holiday cookie exchange or any time you want something sweet!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter unsalted
  • 6 tbsp Margarine Imperial brand
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 3/4 cup All-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Beat the margarine or butter with an electric mixer until it is light and fluffy.
  • Combine the powdered sugar with the flour and mix until blended. You will get a crumbly mixture. Pull the dough together into an oval shape.
  • Sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar on a large sheet of waxed paper. Put the dough on the paper. Put another piece of waxed paper on top and flatten. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Cut with a butter knife that has been dipped in powdered sugar for ease of cutting. Place cut cookies on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until golden around the edges. Teflon sheets may bake quicker, so keep an eye on them.
