Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook the roux for 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until it starts to darken.

Pour in the beer and stir in the chili powder and salt. Stir constantly for approximately 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
