Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon  Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon  Salt
  • 1 cup  Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 1 cup  Sugar (granulated)
  • 2 teaspoons  Vanilla Extract
  • Red Food Coloring (optional)
  • Extra Granulated Sugar (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉. whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt In a medium bowl. Place aside for later use.
  • Cream butter and 1 cup of sugar in a larger bowl. Then add vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add a few drops of red food colouring at a time until you achieve the desired colour, adjusting to your preference.
  • Add around ½ to ¾ cup of the flour mixture at once, mixing it in until everything is well combined. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are fully mixed together.
  • If you have parchment paper, place it on baking sheets without greasing them. Then, use a cookie scoop that measures about 1 ½ inches to scoop out the cookie dough. Roll the dough between your hands to form it into a ball shape.
  • Take the ball of dough and roll it in additional granulated sugar, making sure to cover all sides of the dough with the sugar.
  • Put the cookie dough balls on the baking sheets, making sure to leave approximately 3 inches of space between each ball.
  • Take the bottom of a glass or measuring cup and gently press down on each ball of dough until it becomes approximately ⅓ inch thick or slightly thinner.
  • Put the baking sheet with the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 to 13 minutes. Keep a close eye on them while they bake. The edges of the cookies should only just start to turn golden, and the centre may still appear slightly undercooked.
  • Let the cookies cool for at least 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Allow them to cool completely on the rack.
