Ingredients

  • Egg
  • Butter (unsalted) = 2 tbsp
  • Sweet onion = 1/2 medium-sized
  • Sliced mushroom = 3/4 cup
  • Green onions (for garnishing)
  • Cooked rice

For The Hamburger Patties

  • 1 1/2 lb Ground beef
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp Seasoning salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp  Black pepper

For The Gravy

  • 1 1/2 cup Beef stock
  • 4 tsp Shoyu (soy sauce)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Ketchup
  • 5 tsp Cornstarch

Instructions

For The Hamburger Patties

  • Combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a big bowl.
  • Begin shaping the meat into patties by taking a handful of meat and rolling it into a ball. Then, press it down gently to flatten it out. Make sure to smoothen the edges to avoid any cracks or uneven edges.
  • The patties should be around one inch thick. It's advisable to make the patties larger in size, as they tend to shrink when fried.
  • Place a pan on the stove and heat it over medium heat. Cook each side of the patties for approximately 3-5 minutes or until they are thoroughly cooked.
  • After cooking, place each patty on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess grease.

For The Gravy

  • Combine the beef stock, shoyu, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Whisk the mixture until the cornstarch is fully dissolved and there are no lumps remaining at the bottom.
  • In the same pan, melt one tablespoon of butter. Add the onions and cook them until they turn golden brown, which usually takes about a minute. Then, add the mushrooms and continue frying for an additional one to two minutes.
  • Melt the remaining butter and add the gravy mix to the pan. Continuously stir the gravy until it starts to thicken and gently simmer.

For The Egg

  • Place a slice of butter in a frying pan and let it melt. Crack an egg onto the pan.
  • Prepare a sunny-side-up egg by cooking it in a pan. Feel free to adjust the cooking method based on your personal preference. Once cooked, set the egg aside.
