Steps Involved in Making Loco Moco Gravy

For The Hamburger Patties

Step 1

Combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a big bowl.

Step 2

Begin shaping the meat into patties by taking a handful of meat and rolling it into a ball. Then, press it down gently to flatten it out. Make sure to smoothen the edges to avoid any cracks or uneven edges.

Step 3

The patties should be around one inch thick. It’s advisable to make the patties larger in size, as they tend to shrink when fried.

Step 4

Place a pan on the stove and heat it over medium heat. Cook each side of the patties for approximately 3-5 minutes or until they are thoroughly cooked.

Step 5

After cooking, place each patty on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess grease.

For The Gravy

Step 1

Combine the beef stock, shoyu, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch in a mixing bowl. Whisk the mixture until the cornstarch is fully dissolved and there are no lumps remaining at the bottom.

Step 2

In the same pan, melt one tablespoon of butter. Add the onions and cook them until they turn golden brown, which usually takes about a minute. Then, add the mushrooms and continue frying for an additional one to two minutes.

Step 3

Melt the remaining butter and add the gravy mix to the pan. Continuously stir the gravy until it starts to thicken and gently simmer.

For The Egg

Step 1

Place a slice of butter in a frying pan and let it melt. Crack an egg onto the pan.

Step 2

Prepare a sunny-side-up egg by cooking it in a pan. Feel free to adjust the cooking method based on your personal preference. Once cooked, set the egg aside.
