In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.
Cook the macaroni in boiling water for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, on another burner, place a pot over medium-low heat. Melt the butter and whisk in the flour for 5 minutes.
Add milk to the flour mixture and let it thicken while stirring for 5 minutes. Once it thickens, gradually stir in ¾ of the cheese and cook for 5 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Turn off the stove and drain the pasta. Grab a 12-inch round baking dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 of the cheese on top.
Pop it in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Your dish is now ready to be served. Enjoy!
