Every year Italian Beef Egg Rolls are eaten as a part of Thanksgiving Eve. It is a traditional food of the Italian-American community and of Roman heritage. The origins of the dish are unknown but it is widely believed that it was basically invented by Italian immigrants to America in the late 1860s.
1beef top round steak1-1/2 pounds and 1/2-inch thick
2tbspCanola oil
3/4cupWater
Spaghetti sauce
16ozPastaCooked
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine the Bacon or salami, Seasoned bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, Garlic salt, Fresh parsley, Salt, Pepper, egg, and hot water.
Pour mixture over beef. Then, starting at the long end, roll it up jelly-roll style. Tie it with string.
Heat up oil and brown the meat evenly in a heavy skillet or Dutch oven. Cover with water and bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Allow cooling for five minutes.
Trim string from steak; cut into 1-1/2-in. pieces. Serve with pasta sauce and spaghetti.
