The mulberry cobbler is a classic dessert recipe. The combination of a custard base and a sweet fruit layer, this dessert is a traditional summer treat. In summer, autumn, and winter I also use the word “cobbler” in my title. I believe that the name of the dish comes from the shape of the layer of fruit. In fact, my second book on recipes with a twist is called “cobbler”.
Set the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Add white sugar, baking soda, sifted flour, melted butter, baking powder, salt, and milk to a small mixing bowl.
Using a whisk, mix all ingredients well. Don’t leave any dry ingredients behind. Put the mulberries in a very small saucepan and heat them on low. Avoid overheating to prevent scorching.
Lightly grease an 8×8 or 9×9-inch casserole dish or baking dish with a cooking brush. Place half of the prepared batter in the casserole or baking dish.
Ensure the mulberries are evenly distributed. Add the remaining batter on top. Put the dish in a preheated oven and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes.
Removing the baking dish from the oven when it is done. Once cool, enjoy the most delicious miracle cobbler.
