Today I am going to share with you a captain d’s hush puppy recipe which is extremely delicious and straightforward. Captain D’s hush puppies are a wonderful snack to make for kids and adults alike. They can be fun and delicious, and there is no reason why you shouldn’t make them at least once a year.
Pour vegetable oil in a deep pan so it covers 3-4 inches of the pan vertically.
In a bowl, mix cornmeal, buttermilk, and yellow cornmeal. Stir to combine.
Add the onion, sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure the batter is smooth and not lumpy.
After the oil has heated enough to fry, scoop out the batter and fry it in the oil. You can cook more than one hush puppy at the same time. Be careful not to put too much in the oil, because this will cause the temperature to drop.
When the hush puppies are fried, keep them on a cooling rack to drain excess oil and cool. Serve immediately.
