¾ cup peanut oil (roasted) 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (minced) 1 star anise pod ½ small cinnamon stick 1 small shallot (minced) 1 small garlic clove (minced) 2 tablespoons Sichuan peppercorn ½ cup hot Chinese chiles (dried) ¼ cup toasted sesame oil
Heat the peanut oil to 175 degrees Fahrenheit in a skillet.
Stir in all the spices and cook over low heat until the oil reaches a temperature of 225 F. Simmer at 225 F for five minutes.
Pour the mixture into a heatproof jar and wait for it to cool. Add sesame oil to the mixture. Enjoy!
