- 1 can (28 ounce) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (29 ounce) tomato puree
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large minced garlic clove
- 1/2 onion (very finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon basil (dried)
- 1 teaspoon parsley (dried)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano (dried)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons sugar
In a medium-low saucepan, heat the oil and add the garlic. Cook until golden brown, stirring frequently. Ensure that the garlic is not burned.
Add the onion and stir frequently until it becomes soft and golden. Add tomato products and seasonings.
At medium-high heat, slowly bring to a boil. Cover and let boil for 10 minutes.
Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover loosely, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve hot over pasta. Enjoy!
