Traditional Cuban Mojito Cocktail

Here is the real traditional Cuban Mojito Cocktail recipe that a cuban friend showed me, it is very simple to make but two small details are very important and make your mojito taste like a real cuban mojito.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Branches of fresh mint or Hierba buena
  • 1 teaspoon of cane brown sugar or cane sugar sirup
  • 1/2 lime
  • 5 cl 1,7 oz of Cuban Rum (preferably Bacardi Gold or Havana Club 3 anos)
  • Sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 drops of Angostura.

Instructions
 

  • Put 10 mint leaves and the sugar in your glass, crush it with a spoon ( or use a pestle for cocktails if you have one). Crush the mint about 20 times to extract properly the mint aroma.
  • Squeeze you lime over the crushed mint and sugar that is in your glass. Then put the lime into the glass.
  • Pour the Rum on the whole preparation
  • Add two drops of Angostura
  • Add some ice cubes (In Cuba the use bif ice cubes, because it is very hot over there, but you can use crushed ice)
  • To complete, pour sparkling water.
  • Mix the whole preparation during 5 seconds
