There is two detail that are making the difference between random mojito and the original cuban mojito:

First of all, you have to squeeze a lime (I always use dark-green lime) and leave you squeezed lime pieces dunking into the glass when you are going to put the rest of the ingredients.

Second detail : you HAVE to use some drops of Angostura.

Ingredients to make a cuban Mojito :

  • 2 Branches of fresh mint (or Hierba buena)
  • 1 teaspoon of cane brown sugar (or cane sugar sirup)
  • 1/2 lime
  •   5 cl (1,7 oz) of Cuban Rum (preferably Bacardi Gold or Havana Club 3 anos)
  • Sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 drops of Angostura.

How to make this cuban Mojito :

Step 1

Put 10 mint leaves and the sugar in your glass, crush it with a spoon ( or use a pestle for cocktails if you have one). Crush the mint about 20 times to extract properly the mint aroma.

Step 2

Step 3

Step 4
