Brunswick stew is a famous Southern American stew that is made from pork shoulder, chicken and ham. These ingredients are slowly cooked and purged in a combination of tomato and wine. The stew traditionally called “Brunswick stew” is a recipe that is popular in the Southern United States and other parts of the American South.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Chicken cooked and diced
  • 1 lb Pork or beef cooked and shredded
  • 3 cans Creamy corn
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 1/2 cups Potatoes diced and cooked
  • 2 tbsp Onion minced
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 1/2 cups Vegetable stock
  • 1 1/2 cups Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 7 bacon strips
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper. 1/2 teaspoon
  • 1 tsp Hot sauce

Instructions
 

  • Cook the stew in a large stockpot large enough to hold the entire batch. Pour the oil into a pan, cook the bacon, and remove the bacon.
  • Stir in onions and garlic and sauté for a few minutes. Add meat when onions are tender.
  • Cook the meat until it browns. Pour in the vegetable stock.
  • Combine the canned corn, potatoes, bacon, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooked bacon strips.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for approximately 30 minutes. When the mixture is simmering, lower the heat.
  • Once the stew has thickened, serve it with warm bread.
