Apple crisp is a sweet and spicy dessert. Making it is very simple, and while you can make this recipe without any added sugar, it is recommended that you use a homemade sugar substitute. This recipe can be made with whole-apple or fresh-squeezed juice, but I prefer the latter because I think the sweet flavour that is added by the apple creates a softer texture.

For The Topping:
Combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl. Add the butter while whisking. Top the apples evenly with the topping.
Bake for 40 minutes, or until the topping is slightly crispy and golden brown. If you want to serve it with ice cream, or frozen custard, serve it warm or at room temperature.
