If you love going out to your local Applebee’s restaurant and ordering the famous beer cheese dip then I am about to make your day because now you can make this at home with this copycat recipe. This recipe for Applebee’s beer cheese dip is great for game day, watch parties or any other get-togethers. The process of making the dip only takes about 40 minutes and there are several ways to adjust it so that everyone in your family will love it!
- Butter, 3 tablespoons
- Flour, 3 tablespoons
- Blue Moon Beer, 1 bottle
- Milk, 1/2 cup
- Garlic cloves (minced), 2
- Dijon Mustard, 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire Sauce, 1/4 teaspoon
- Colby Jack Cheese (shredded), 1-1/2 cups
- Sharp White Cheddar Cheese (shredded), 1-1/2 cups
- Hot Sauce, 1 teaspoon
- Salt (to taste)
- Freshly ground Black Pepper (to taste)
- Cayenne Pepper Powder (to garnish)
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Then add the flour. Stir until smooth, then cook for about one minute.
Whip the mixture and slowly add in the beer and milk. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, mustard and garlic.
Stir constantly for at least five minutes, until it thickens. Stir with a wooden spoon to see how thick it is.
Removing the pan from the heat, stir in both cheeses and the hot sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Put in a bowl, sprinkle with cayenne or paprika, and serve immediately while hot.
You can serve this with warm pretzels, toast points, crostini, or crudités as a dip.
