- Active dry yeast, 1 tablespoon
- Sugar, 1 tablespoon
- Warm water, 1/2 cup
- Shortening, 1/3 cup
- Sugar, 1/2 cup
- Large egg (beaten), 1
- All-purpose flour (divided), 3-1/2 to 4 cups
- Warm whole milk, 1/2 cup
For The Topping:
- All-purpose flour, 1 cup
- Brown sugar (packed), 1/2 cup
- Sugar, 1/2 cup
- Shortening, 1/4 cup
- Vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons
- Salt, 1 pinch
- Peaches (drained and Sliced), 2 cans (15-1/4 oz each)
Instructions
Step 1
Add yeast and sugar to water and dissolve. Let stand for five minutes.
Step 2
Combine the shortening, sugar, and egg in a large bowl.
Step 3
Mix in 2 cups flour, milk, and yeast mixture gradually. Combine the remaining flour until you have a soft dough.
Step 4
Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough into a greased bowl, and grease the top. Put the dough in a warm place and let it rise for about an hour.
