How To Make Strip House Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

For the chocolate custard

  • Milk, 4 cups
  • heavy cream, 4 1/3 cups
  • Vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons and a 1 teaspoon
  • Whole eggs, 3
  • Egg yolks, 5
  • Sugar, 1 ⅓ cup
  • All-purpose Flour, ¾ cup
  • Corn starch, 1 cup
  • Bittersweet Chocolate, 14 oz

For 12 Layer Chocolate Cake 

  • Softened Butter, 1 ¾ pounds
  • Granulated sugar, 4 pounds
  • Whole eggs , 13
  • Cocoa Powder, ¾ pound
  • Cake flour, 2 1/8 pound
  • Salt, 1 tablespoon
  • Baking soda, 2 tablespoons
  • Baking powder , ¾ teaspoon
  • Cold coffee, 2 1/3 cups
  • Milk, 2 1/3 cup
  • Vanilla extract, 2 1/3 teaspoon

Instructions

For the chocolate custard

Step 1

Combine the eggs in a separate mixing bowl and reserve. Combine the flour and sugar in a separate bowl and set aside.

Step 2

Add the corn starch to one cup of cold milk, and set aside. Pour the cream and 3 cups of milk into a pot and bring it to a boil. Take care that the dairy does not burn.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into the pot after whisking the eggs with some of the milk then adding the vanilla extract.

Step 4

Slowly add the flour and sugar to the mix and let dissolve. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until thick. Take off the heat.

Step 5

While it is warm, add the chocolate. Stir the custard for several minutes, then chill it in ice water. Leave it aside for later use.

For The Cake 

Step 1

Combine the dry ingredients. Add the coffee, vanilla extract, and milk. Combine well.

Step 2

Mix the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl, and add one egg at a time. Then slowly combine the dry and wet ingredients. 

Step 3

Pour the cake batter into two baking pans greased with butter and lined with baking sheets.

Step 4

Put the cake in the oven for 55 minutes at 325°F. Allow the cake to cool after it has been baked for 55 minutes.

Step 5

Cut each cake into six layers. Lay the layers of cake on top of each other and line with custard. Apply the custard and smooth the top. Place in the refrigerator for a few hours to set. Remove from refrigerator and slice.
