Today I am going to share with you a waffle house patty melt recipe that is super delicious. A Waffle House patty melt is cheesy, crispy, and delicious. It’s a damn good and mouthwatering food item that’s great any time of day.

The item is one of my favorites at Waffle House. This is a great recipe to make when you don’t have much time since it’s quick and very simple.

I actually saw this during a conference, but couldn’t remember the name of it. I’m not sure if there are other places around the United States that serve these burgers.

How To Make Waffle House Patty Melt

This patty melt recipe is a unique way to enjoy your favorite snack. It’s made with beef, sandwich bread, Swiss cheese, Cheddar cheese, and Worcestershire sauce.

This patty melt is best enjoyed on a bagel or with a spoon, but you can eat it with your hands too. This recipe gives you a patty melt that tastes just like Waffle House. You can easily make it at home. Give it a try today!

Ingredients

  • Ground beef, 1 pound
  • Rye bread or any sandwich bread, 8 slices
  • Onions, 3/4 cup
  • Unsalted butter or mayonnaise, 4 tablespoons
  • Black pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • Kosher salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Worcestershire sauce, 1 package 
  • Freshly grated Swiss cheese
  • Freshly grated Cheddar cheese 

Instructions

Step 1

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for 20 minutes, until they are caramelized. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of kosher salt on the mixture.

Step 2

Combine Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 tsp kosher salt, and 1 tsp black pepper with ground beef and mix well to season. Then, form thin patties from the ground beef.

Step 3

Cook patties for 5 minutes on each side in hot oil over high heat. Once the patties are cooked, drain excess oil from them using a paper towel.

Step 4

Put 1 teaspoon of butter on each slice of bread, and make sure to butter the outer side of the sandwiches.

Step 5

Place the butter-side down on the bread slices. Add a little cheese to the bread and top it with onions and cooked patties. Spread a little more cheese on top and cover with another piece of bread.

Step 6

Grill or cook the sandwiches on both sides for 3-5 minutes until they are completely toasted and the cheese has melted. Slice the sandwiches in half and serve.
