So, after many years of experimenting on my own, I finally figured out the perfect cajun fried shrimp recipe!
How To Make Cajun Fried Shrimp
This is a super cajun simple recipe that is extremely easy to make; it’s also fairly quick to prepare. Though this recipe is very simple, it is sure to be packed with flavour. Use this shrimp recipe for simple fried shrimp at your next Louisiana New Year’s party, or for any other casual day-to-day meals. The classic Cajun seasoning, celery, onion, bell pepper, and garlic are all involved in this dish, so you have many different possibilities for your fried shrimp recipe.
Ingredients
For The Shrimp
- Large Shrimp (peeled and de-veined leaving tail and one shell segment on), 1 lb
- Vegetable oil
For The Breading
- All-purpose flour, 2 cups
- Cayenne Pepper, 1 tablespoon
- Old Bay Seasoning, 1 tablespoon
- Paprika, 1 tablespoon
- McCormick Lemon, 1 teaspoon
- Pepper Seasoning, 1 teaspoon
- Garlic Powder, 1 teaspoon
- Coriander (ground), 1 teaspoon
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
- Black Pepper, 1 teaspoon
For the egg wash
- 1 Egg
- Milk (splash)
Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the sifted flour, old bay seasoning, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, lemon & pepper seasoning, coriander, black pepper and salt.
Step 2
Dip the shrimp into the flour mixture and coat each shrimp evenly with the mixture. Let them rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 3
In a bowl, whisk egg and milk together. Dip the shrimp in an egg wash to completely coat them and then into a flour mixture to completely coat them and then onto a clean plate.
Step 4
In a deep fryer, heat the oil to 375 degrees F. Fill the pan with enough oil so that the shrimp is completely covered. Fry shrimp in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 5
Take the shrimp out of the oil and lay them on a paper towel to drain. Serve with your favourite Red Beans & Rice or Remoulade Sauce in a basket.
