Puffed rice is a term that is often used by people to describe the technical term for the sticky rice served in Chinese restaurants. While this is true, it can also be used to describe rice that has been puffed to make it more convenient to eat.

How To Make Puffed Rice

Puffed Rice recipe for low-carb & low-fat puffed rice is great for breakfast or used in the main course. It would be a great substitute for regular rice. It’s very versatile and can be eaten for lunch or dinner.


  • Rice, 1 Cup
  • Water, 1 3⁄4 cups 
  • Sea salt (to taste)
  • Vegetable oil


Step 1

Wash your choice of rice. Put the rice in boiling saltwater and let it boil for a few minutes. Allow the rice to cook until it’s soft

Step 2

Place the cooked rice on a baking sheet. Put the rice in a 250 °F oven and let it dry for two hours.

Step 3

Heat the oil to 375 degrees Fahrenheit in a pot. Place a few rice grains in the oil to test the temperature. Fry the rice for 5 to 10 seconds.

Step 4

Transfer the rice to a baking sheet after lifting it out of the oil. Allow the rice to cool and then serve it.
