How To Make Outback Ahi Tuna

The Outback Ahi Tuna appetizer is one of my favourites. It’s a simple recipe that consists of chunks of raw tuna, which are quickly seared on the outside and served rare in the centre. The Ahi Tuna appetizer is served with a delicious wasabi cream sauce to give it an extra kick. This easy-to-make recipe will have your family asking for more!

Ingredients

  • Ahi Tuna Steaks, 2 pieces
  • Mustard paste, 2 teaspoons
  • Sesame seeds, ½ cup
  • Coconut oil, 2-3 tablespoons
  • Tamari sauce, ½ cup
  • Lemon juice, 2 teaspoons
  • Sesame oil (raw),1 teaspoon
  • Grated ginger,½ teaspoon
  • Maple syrup, 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder or paprika, ½ teaspoon

Instructions

Step 1

Clean and pat dry the tuna steaks. Apply the mustard paste to both sides of the steak. It’s important to evenly coat the tuna meat with the paste for a delicious, salty taste.

Step 2

On a plate, spread the sesame seeds and thoroughly roll the steak pieces in them. This will cover the tuna steak pieces with sesame seeds on all sides. Then, place the mixing bowl aside and allow the spices to penetrate the fish steak.

Step 3

Place a frying pan over medium heat and pour coconut oil in it. Next, carefully add the marinated steak pieces to the oil while mixing in chili powder to increase the heat level. Cook each side of the steak for a few minutes before flipping it.

Step 4

Rotating the outback tuna steak from time to time eliminates the risk of burning it.

Step 5

To make the dipping sauce. Pour the tamari sauce onto a plate and sprinkle grated ginger over it. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and add lemon juice for a tangy and savoury flavour.

Step 6

Pour sesame oil as you mix and serve along with the prepared tuna steaks. You can also serve the dish with a salad made with any type of veggie you like. We are ready to serve our homemade outback tuna sauce and steak.
