A guide to making peanut butter oatmeal dog treats recipe
Before officially getting into the recipe, I can sense that you may also need your treats to be all fresh for your dog; since you are on the look for a healthy alternative, how can a dog eat something that isn’t all fresh and smells good? So, let’s make our fresh peanut butter oatmeal treats for your dog!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
- 1/2 tsp. of water
- One big egg
- Cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon
- 1/2 tsp. of honey
Yes, these are the few ingredients you will need to make this recipe. Now, if you have these all, get up and let’s get to cooking:
Step 01:
First of all, you should preheat the oven to 350 degrees approximately, according to my guess, for 30 minutes. Now, let’s mix up all the dry ingredients that I have mentioned above to make a consistent batter. Now, this is very important to only mix the dry ones separately.
Step 02:
After that, mix the peanut butter with hot water. Also, one thing I should mention is that if you think that it is sticky, then you can also add more flour to it. Once you are done making the dough, roll it into one big piece.
Step 03:
In this step, you need to cut the dough into small pieces of different shapes of your choice. Here is an additional step, only if you want to do it because it isn’t much important to do. Basically, you need to do an egg wash on the treats (dough pieces) you have made. What you do here is, with the help of an oil spreader, you put eggs on the treats so that they get fully covered before you put them in the oven. This only serves the purpose of giving a sheen when they get baked.
Step 04:
Put them on a baking tray with a sheet on for 40 minutes in the already set and heated oven. After 40 minutes, turn the oven off and take them out to cool. Also, make sure that the baking sheet is nicely greased with oil.
Step 05:
For storing purposes, you can store the treats for 3 weeks only if you are placing them in an air-tight container. And for a longer time, you can put them in the freezer for 6 months.
Final words:
To end, as always, I am not a specialist in nutrition, so if your dog is intolerant to any of the above-mentioned ingredients, you can always refer to a doctor or switch the ingredients with other alternatives.
