Ingredients

  • unsalted butter (room temperature), 1/2 cup
  • Sugar, 1 ¼ cups
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • all-purpose flour (sifted), 4 tablespoons
  • Pinch of salt
  • full-fat buttermilk (chilled), 1 cup
  • vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon
  • Dash nutmeg (freshly grounded)
  • lemon juice and zest, 1 tablespoon
  • 1 9-inch ready pie crust (thawed and unbaked)

Step By Step Instructions To Make Pioneer Woman Buttermilk Pie

Step 1

Set the rack in the middle of the oven and preheat it to 350°F. Prepare the pie crust by lightly flouring a work surface and rolling the dough out to a 12-inch circle.

Step 2

Line a 9-inch pie pan with dough, trimming any excess. Make sure the edges are crimped! Put some dried beans or pie weights on top of parchment paper if you want a crisp bottom for your pie.

Step 3

Place the pie pan in the oven and Bake for about 15 minutes or until the crust begins to set.

Let it cool completely on a wire rack before filling it. In case you don’t mind the bottom of your pie being soft, you can skip the pre-baking step.

Fill the unbaked pie crust with the buttermilk mixture and bake for 55-70 minutes, or until the crust is set and slightly jiggly in the center.

Step 8
