- 1 can (14 ounces / 397g) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Spaghetti noodles, cooked according to package instructions
Instructions:
- Sauté the Aromatics:
- Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Brown the Ground Beef:
- Push the onion and garlic to the side of the pan and add the ground beef.
- Cook the beef until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings:
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
- Stir in the dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer and Infuse Flavor:
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- The longer it simmers, the richer the flavors will be.
- Taste and Adjust:
- Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, pepper, or herbs if desired.
- Serve Over Cooked Spaghetti:
- Cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions.
- Drain the noodles and toss them with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti.
- Sprinkle generously with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Garlic Bread on the Side:
- Don’t forget the garlic bread! Toast slices of baguette or Italian bread.
- Rub each slice with a clove of garlic and drizzle with olive oil.
